SUMMARY:Northern Colorado Sporting Clays Fun Shoot
DESCRIPTION:Individuals of all ages are invited to join us on Saturday\, August 18th\, at Great Guns for our annual Fun Shoot.  This great sporting clay course consists of 20 stations\, where you’ll have the opportunity to test your skill and see if you’re ready for the upcoming hunting season.  If you’ve never shot sporting clays\, you’ve been missing out!  Consider it golf with a shotgun.  You’ll have the opportunity to shoot 100 total clays flying in all directions.   \nThere will be prizes for the top team (of four) and top shooters. This year there will also be prizes for the top adult-youth team(the team is one adult and 1 youth). So partner up with a youth and shoot some clays. \nShotguns are available to those who need them (please let us know).  As always\, lunch is included.  \nPrice: $50/adult and $30/youth under 18. Price includes lunch. Pay now or at the door\, but please register so we know how many are coming.  Proceeds will benefit our youth outreach and habitat improvement efforts.   \nRegistration begins at 8:00; shooting begins shortly thereafter. \nGrab a friend and come on out!!!

Campers will sleep in our quaint cabins\, just a hop\, skip\, and a jump from the Main Lodge. Each cabin has 5 bunk beds\, a propane heater\, and a dresser for each camper. The Lodge houses our bathrooms\, dining hall\, Bear Room\, and administrative offices. Campers will have the opportunity to take a shower during the camp session. Each cabin is under the supervision of a Cal-Wood staff member and Counselor-in-training (CIT). Homemade\, nutritious meals are served in our dining hall\, while our Bear Room provides an indoor space for the whole camp in case of inclement weather.

DESCRIPTION:Would you like to learn how to fish\, hunt and shoot? Colorado Parks and Wildlife is offering a weekend seminar for men only in June.   \nMONTROSE\, Colo. – Isn’t it about time you got away from that computer screen and got into Colorado’s backcountry for some real adventure? Men\, ages 18-40\, who are interested in learning how to fish and hunt are invited to a weekend “Cast and Blast” sponsored by Colorado Parks and Wildlife\, June 24-26. \n “There is no better way to burn off the stress of this 24-7 world than to get out of town and into Colorado’s mountains for some hunting and fishing\,” said Mark Caddy\, district wildlife manager in the Montrose area\, “We want to teach you some skills to make you comfortable in the woods.” \n The weekend class is especially designed for men who have no experience or limited experience with firearms\, archery\, hunting and fishing\, and camping. Participants will learn some of the basics of wildlife biology\, fly fishing\, shotgun shooting and archery while relaxing in a remote corner of Colorado. \n The weekend event will be held at the beautiful Lone Cone-Jim Olterman State Wildlife Area located north of Norwood\, San Miguel County in southwestern Colorado. Firearms and fishing gear will be provided. Attendees will be selected from applications submitted to the Montrose Service Center of Colorado Parks and Wildlife at 2300 South Townsend Ave; Montrose\, CO  81401.  Applications can be obtained by calling 970-252-6000 or by e-mail at darlene.trainor@state.co.us.  A $40 refundable deposit is required.
